The EDC Outpost Story: Why We Provide Survival Gear for Urban and Wilderness Preparedness

Preparedness isn’t a hobby. It’s a responsibility.

When I set out on my own 50-day survival experience, my goal was simple: to strengthen my skills in wilderness survival, bushcraft, and everyday carry (EDC) preparedness. I expected to learn practical things — how to start a fire, purify water, build shelter. What I didn’t expect was how deeply it would change my perspective on life, community, and what it means to be truly ready.

During those weeks, I developed a deep love for the wilderness and the art of bushcraft. Carrying every drop of my water, building the fire I’d cook over, and sleeping in a shelter I made with my own hands — these experiences built not only skill, but gratitude. They also reminded me that urban and wilderness survival share the same core truth: every day, in one way or another, we are in a survival situation.

The most important thing I discovered? Preparedness isn’t just about protecting yourself. It’s about being ready to help your family, neighbors, and community when they need it most — whether during a power outage, a natural disaster, or a night in the backcountry.

That realization is why I started The EDC Outpost.

Our mission is to equip everyday people with dependable EDC survival gear and wilderness survival equipment they can trust in any environment. Our store is organized around the proven 10 C’s of Survival — a framework used by experts to ensure you have the right tools for cutting, combustion, cover, containers, cordage, and more.

We also provide urban preparedness gear, specialized medical kits, and resources for building self-reliance skills.
